2nd draw for FY25 H-1B Cap Registrations

For the fiscal year 2025 H-1B cap, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) conducted an initial random selection of electronically filed registrations in March. This included beneficiaries eligible for the advanced degree exemption. Petitioners whose registrations were selected for FY 2025 could submit H-1B cap-subject requests during the specified filing window, which opened on April 1 and closed on June 30, 2024.

To meet the regular cap numerical allotment for FY 2025, USCIS will conduct a second round of selection. They will randomly choose additional registrations for unique beneficiaries from previously submitted electronic registrations. Petitioners whose registrations were selected in this second round will be notified and can file H-1B cap-subject petitions.

However, the master’s cap advanced degree exemption will not undergo a second selection process because enough master’s cap registrations were already chosen to meet the FY 2025 numerical allotment. Registrations indicating eligibility for both master’s and regular caps, as well as those exclusively eligible for the regular cap, will be considered for the regular cap’s second round of selection. Selected registrants will receive a notice with file-location and timing information posted to their online accounts.
