USCIS has announced that it has reached the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 H-1B cap, including both the 65,000 regular H-1B visas and the 20,000 H-1B visas under the U.S. advanced degree exemption, also known as the “master’s cap.” The agency has received enough petitions to meet the congressionally mandated caps for the upcoming fiscal year.
As a result, USCIS will begin sending non-selection notices to registrants through their online accounts over the next few days. Once these notices are sent, registrants who were not selected will see their registration status updated to “Not Selected.” This means they will not be eligible to file an H-1B cap petition for FY 2025.
However, USCIS will continue to process petitions that are exempt from the cap. These include petitions filed for current H-1B workers who have been previously counted against the cap and who retain their cap number. Additionally, petitions for extensions, changes in employment terms, employer transfers, or concurrent H-1B positions for current workers will still be accepted.
USCIS encourages H-1B petitioners to subscribe to receive email updates regarding the H-1B cap season. These updates can help petitioners stay informed about the latest developments and any future opportunities related to the H-1B visa program.
